Cuisine Magazine 4 Stars April 2021
Elegant and rounded with soft dark-cherry and plum fruit characters in a silky, spicy yet ripe style pinot. Youthful but it certainly is standing its ground. Plenty of structure with great acid definition and rounded tannins to support the abundant fruit.
Bob Campbell 89/100 March 2021
From a steeply terraced glacial slope in the Pisa sub-region with wide-ranging soils and aspects and clones. Bright, fresh pinot noir with plum, cherry, fresh herb and spicy oak flavours supported by fresh acidity and fine, peppery tannins

25 Steps Pinot Noir Special
Six bottles of Akarua 25 Steps Pinot Noir 2019
A unique wine from a spectacular terraced single vineyard site. Cranberries, strawberries and wild raspberries with the perfume of mountain brambles, rosehip and thyme. The palate is lighter than Bannockburn with pronounced stony mineral character, juicy red berry acidity and fine dry tannins. Finely boned with bright pure fruit. Ten months in neutral oak.
Sam Kim 94/100 5 Stars – March 2021
It is wonderfully ripe and perfumed on the nose showing dark cherry, mushroom, cedar, thyme and floral aromas. The palate displays excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, gorgeously complemented by layers of delectable flavours. Long and satisfying on the finish. At its best: now to 2026.
