"From old vines planted in ancient schist soils on Bannockburn's Felton Road. An elegant rather than blockbuster pinot noir with appealing plum, cherry, red rose, spice, thyme and a suggestion of nutty oak flavours supported by gentle acidity and fine, drying tannins. Approachable now but with promising potential."

Akarua Kolo Pinot Noir 2018
A single block wine from within our Felton Terraces Vineyard at the end of Felton Road, tucked between the mountains in Long Gully. This block is named after a young Māori warrior Kolo, who famously defended his mother and young sister from a Haast eagle attack; according to local legend.

Highly concentrated centre palate of black cherries with lifted wild thyme and truffle, tannins are earthy and super fine, with electricity and tension from the driving linear acidity. Very long, complex and persistent. 18 months in French oak, 12 months in bottle before release.
